SLICK SURFACES – St. Martin Parish residents woke to unfamiliar icy roadways on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Most government offices, schools and businesses were closed and the St. Martin Sheriff’s office imposed an overnight curfew. Water systems were stressed by high water demand due to faucets being left on to prevent freezing. The ice remained in some places through Friday. (Karl Jeter)
