Free recycle day Saturday

Time to gain yourself a little elbow room for the new year. This Saturday, Jan. 19, Project Front Yard, the St. Martin Parish Libraries and the Sheriff’s Office will hold the parish’s fourth annual free recycling day.
From 8 a.m. to noon, volunteers will be waiting at the Emergency Preparedness Office, 4870 LA 31/Main Hwy, the corner of the Cypress Island Extension and Main Hwy, near Parks.
Get that old computer hardware out of your way, along with unneeded medications and paper products. Your unwanted electronics will be recycled or refurbished and put to good use, paper will be shredded by the St. Martin Parish Libraries and Sheriff’s Office personnel will properly dispose of unwanted or expired medications.
It couldn’t be easier, Just load up and drive through the parking lot. The volunteers will do all the unloading. Parish Compliance Technician Holly Guilbeau challenges residents to top last year’s totals of 2,258 lbs. of electronics, 6,300 lbs. of paper and 40 lbs of medications collected.
