Parks council hears water system updates

Neal McClelland Correspondent

Parks - Outside of the usual vote to accept the minutes of the September meeting, there were no other votes needed during the October meeting of the Parks Vllage Council.

Mayor Kevin Kately gave the council an update on some projects that have previously been discussed.

“The well is probably 80 percent complete,” Kately said. “They still have to put the pump on, the motor on. And those have been ordered and are just waiting to be delivered.

“They are about to start construction of two separate buildings at the new well which will give us a plan B in case something should happen.”

The mayor explained that there had never been a Plan B with Parks Water in case there was an emergency or a problem. But now they were in a position to have a Plan B just to handle such an emergency.

The mayor also said that they were going to construct a new water tower to help with the water plant as well.

The mayor also added that the plan was to also add some automatic flushers to the system to keep the water fresh and clean.

“Once we know where we’re at cost wise with the new well, then we can start looking into adding another 1,000, to 1,500 new water meters,” Kately said.

The mayor also announced that the annual “Trunk or Treat” will be held in the park from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on October 24.

Kately also told the council that the new library was coming along well. And that, hopefully by November or December, it will be complete.

With no other business to discuss the council adjourned until November.
