First Mr. Huet, then my Pensacola daughter told me they both have multiple Hummingbirds at their feeders so I put one of mine back up. So far I haven’t seen a thing - not even a lizard, but I’ll wait awhile.
I do have a squirrel visiting my front deck occasionally. My youngest daughter gave me a really neat metal tray-type feeder which clamps to the front railing. The squirrels sort of lay in the dish part to eat.
My neighbor is having something constructed along her seawall so every day now I can hear the clanking and banging and pounding of the machinery. I thought they were simply making a new, higher seawall, but now it looks like a lot more. Not sure what and I don’t ask. Unfortunately, my dog barks at every one of those beeping noises when the small boat moves.
The morning temperatures are pretty nice these days but it still gets into the low 90s by early afternoon. I cool (and heat) my house with mini-split units and one doesn’t seem to be keeping ahead of the heat in the afternoons. A local guy is coming to take a look today.
The chair yoga group just celebrated a week more than a year in existence at the Belle River Community Center. We’ve added a Tai Chi session which everybody seems to like. One of the ladies says she has recently purchased a lengthier Tai Chi DVD which we’ll start using next week. Come join us if you’re ever this way.
In October, there are all sorts of Halloween activities going on over here. I’ve told you about some. Mostly I will attend with others in the Assumption Friends of the Library but one I dress up for. The ARC in Napoleonville. I wear a purple crayon costume and my partner wears a witch hat. It’s fun and even better, well organized. The kids, and a lot of adults, are held back until a certain time so it’s a bit easier giving out candy when a whole mob doesn’t come at once. The temperature this morning was in the 70s and rain is expected later this afternoon. I hope that’s true because my plants need some water.
I do not have a smart TV and really don’t even watch TV very much but I do pay for Netflix and yesterday evening, for lack of energy I guess, I tried to find something to watch on Netflix. No matter what I did it wouldn’t let me get to Netflix so I called my neighbor, a wonderful lady, who came over and in just a few minutes found my remote simply needed batteries. Now why couldn’t I have figured that out? And after getting all that settled, I didn’t even watch TV, just continued with the book I’ve been reading and then went to bed.
Today it’s finishing a few articles, maybe a little online shopping. Oh yes, you all probably know of Ollie’s Discount Store? One just opened past Walmart In Bayou Vista and it is a sensation. Everybody I meet asks “Have you been to Ollie’s?” Well, I went once so far and was so overwhelmed with all the contents I didn’t even buy much, just wandered. I will go back but not until I have a list and a few dollars in my pocket. Stuff is cheap but it adds up! I wonder how on earth all that stuff is ever put in the store. It was neat but absolutely packed. And my daughter in Florida tells me she went to one there. And who is Ollie?
