CITY LIGHTS – New vintage-style street lights have been installed along Main Street between Dernier Street and the St. Martin Parish Courthouse as part of St. Martinville’s sidewalk improvement project. The first phase of the project, funded by a $1.4 million state Main Street Enhancement grant and capital outlay funds, expands the sidewalks and adds the new decorative lights every 100 feet, staggered on alternating sides of the street so there are lights every 50 feet of roadway. The first phase will run north from Dernier toward Burdin Street with future phases pushing north beyond St. Martinville Senior High. (Chris Landry)
