Louisiana beverage companies are expanding ingredient transparency for consumers through the nationwide rollout of Good to Know, a first-of-itskind digital platform that provides easy-tounderstand information about beverage ingredients. This platform helps consumers make informed decisions about the products they want to buy and their ingredients.
The initiative lets consumers scan QR codes on beverage cans and bottles and connect directly to Good-ToKnowFacts.org, a comprehensive online resource with factual, science-based information on more than 140 beverage ingredients. The platform helps consumers better understand what ingredients are used in their favorite beverages, the role those ingredients play, and how food safety regulators in the United States and around the world evaluate them.
Keli Williams, Executive Director of the Louisiana Beverage Association, said: “By integrating Good to Know into product QR codes, we’re making reliable ingredient information available instantly, helping consumers make informed choices with confidence.”
For Louisiana families, the initiative represents another step toward greater transparency in the products they enjoy every day. Whether shopping in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Lafayette, Lake Charles, or other communities across the state, consumers can access ingredient information with a simple smartphone scan.
The beverage industry’s commitment to ingredient transparency is notable because it:
•Provides action without mandate: Beverage companies voluntarily developed the platform to respond to consumer demand for greater transparency.
•Delivers an industry- first innovation: No other industry currently offers consumers access to global ingredient safety information through standardized QR code labeling.
•Creates a consistent consumer experience: Participating beverage companies have adopted a shared framework, ensuring consumers receive the same ingredient information regardless of the brand they purchase.
The expansion of Good to Know reflects the industry’s ongoing commitment to accountability, transparency, and consumer education.
Beverage companies began integrating Good to Know into product QR codes in 2026 and have committed to achieving full or nearfull market penetration across their beverage portfolios by the end of 2027.
