New Orleans – Former Cecilia High School standout receiver and defensive back Brent Gordon Jr. was honored by the Sun Belt Conference when he was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The sophomore cornerback, who joined teammate Collin Jacob in earning SBC Defensive honors, recorded seven tackles with an interception, a tackle for loss, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in Louisiana’s 34-7 win at Charlotte on Saturday. Jacob was honored the previous week.
Gordon added a 36yard punt return for the Ragin’ Cajuns and helped lead a defense that allowed its fewest total yards (137) since Sept. 1, 2001 when the Cajuns allowed 57 yards of total offense against Nicholls.
