Breaux Bridge — Planning and zoning matters dominated the September meeting of the Breaux Bridge City Council, which considered four items, including a final issue that prompted a lengthy and contentious discussion.
Mayor Ricky Calais was absent because of a personal commitment, leaving Mayor Pro Tem Scotty Borel to preside over the meeting.
Sales tax figures were not presented because Borel did not have the revenue report available. However, Calais noted in his mayor’s report that sales tax revenue was up 4 percent compared with the previous fiscal year.
