Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site will present a class in meat preservation on Saturday September 12 from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
Learn traditional homesteading methods for preserving meat through pickling, canning, and smoking. This hands-on program will share time-tested techniques for safely preserving food and keeping these historic skills alive for future generations.
Park entry admission is $6, $4 for ages 62 and over, or free for children ages 0 to 6 years. Or join Les Amis for $10 per individual or $20 per family for admission to this and future classes.
The St. Martinville French Table meets every Wednesday from 10 to 11 am for coffee and guided conversation. Speakers of Cajun, Creole and international French are welcome, from beginners to native speakers.
