– A tip regarding a threat circulating on social media against Cecilia High School led to the arrest of a 15-year-old girl by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Becket Breaux said that at about 7:54 a.m. on Aug. 27, St. Martin Crime Stoppers received the tip.
Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office immediately launched an investigation and identified the person who made the threat as a 15-year-old female who attends Cecilia High School.
An arrest warrant was issued for the juvenile, who was subsequently arrested on the following charge:
• LA R.S. 14:40.1 – Terrorizing; Menacing Following the completion of the booking process, the juvenile was released into the custody of her mother.
Sheriff Breaux reminds the public that threats made on social media are not a joke and will be taken seriously. Individuals who make threats will be held accountable for their actions. He urges everyone, especially young people, to think before they post and understand there can be serious consequences for what is said or shared online.
