The Pepper crop, which is fully a month late this season is now coming to market regularly, but the bad weather early in the season, reduced the acreage, and the storm has done some damage to the crop, which will probably reduce the yield.
The United States department of agriculture is out with an advice and a warning to the housewives of the rural South not to waste their muscadines.
Parish school boards have received recommendations to budget $800 per child for the 1926-27 session as compared with $600 for the 1925-26 school year, according to T. H. Harris, head of the State Board of Education. The major portion of this increase is expected to be made possible by the funds which are to be derived from the tobacco tax, Mr Harris states.

An evaluation of public fire protection facilities in Breaux Bridge resulted in the adjustment of the city’s classification from Class 6 to Class 5, which meant savings in insurance premiums for homeowners and business people.
Elected officers of the parish homemaker council were Mrs. Raoul Babineaux, Cade, president; Mrs. Steve Guidry, Nina, vice president; Mrs. Douglas Olivier, Catahoula; president Mrs. Oliver Brown, Cade, secretary; Mrs. Francis Broussard, St. Martinville, historian; and Mrs. Jason Dupuis, Breaux Bridge, parliamentarian.
Elected officers of the Breaux Bridge 4-H Club were Brian Angelle, president; Dale Huval, vice president; Sharon Brasseaux, secretary; Eugene Chauffe, reporter, Connie Angelle and Butch Castille, song leaders; and Lori Cormier, program chairman.

Karen Knott of Cecilia placed first overall in the National MDA beauty pageant in Baton Rouge.
Ruthie LaPorte represented Arnaudville at Louisiana Girls’ State.
Naomi Angelle of Cecilia was crowned Miss St. Martin. Kim Inzerella of St. Martinville was first runner-up and Kim Babin of St. Martinville was chosen first maid.
The gates of the Evangeline-Longfellow State Commemorative area in St. Martinville were closed indefinitely and the facility was no longer open to tourists and local residents. The park was one of 22 sites in the state park system that was closed because of the state’s budgetary problems.
Lester Hardy of Arnaudville was named to the State Board of Pharmacy for a six year term.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries opened the gates in a renewed effort to “draw down” the lake to choke off the deaded hydrilla grass in Henderson Lake.
Lt. Gov. Kathleen Blanco toured St. MarHistoric Acadian Memorial and also viewed several sites throughout St. Martinville.
