Section of Smede Hwy (La. 92-1) expected to be closed until 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14

Cade – Louisiana Highway 92-1 (Smede Highway) approximately 0.75 miles west of its intersection with La. 31 will be closed to vehicular traffic until Monday, September 14 at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

The closure, which began Monday at 7 a.m., is necessary to install new drainage structures across the roadway, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

The detour routes will be posted and are as follows: The detour route for westbound traffic will be La. 31 (South Main Street) north to La. 96 (Terrace Highway), continue west on La. 96 (Terrace Highway), then take La. 182 (Old Spanish Trail Highway) south towards La. 92-1 (Smede Highway).

The detour route for eastbound traffic will be La. 182 (Old Spanish Trail Highway), north to La. 96 (Terrace Highway), continue east on La. 96 (Terrace Highway), then take La. 31 (South Main Street) south towards La. 92-1 (Smede Highway).

Emergency vehicles will not have access to the area and should seek an alternate route.

DOTD said it appreciates the public’s patience and reminds motorists to please drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
