Lafayette man arrested on drug charges following traffic stop

Breaux Bridge – Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 41-year-old Lafayette man on drug charges after making a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Rees Street in Breaux Bridge around 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 19, after they noticed the driver of the vehicle commit a traffic violation. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was later identified as Terrance Woods, 41, of Lafayette.

During the investigation, deputies searched the vehicle and located approximately 175 grams of suspected cocaine and 1.5 dosage units of suspected Percocet.

Woods was arrested and booked into jail on the following charges:

• La. R.S. 40:967A – Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS

• La. R.S. 40:967C – Possession of a Schedule II CDS

• La. R.S. 32:104 – Turning Movements and Required Signals Sheriff Becket Breaux said that he would like to reaffirm the Sheriff’s Office commitment to keeping illegal drugs off our streets and holding those who possess and distribute them accountable.
