The Breaux Bridge City Council met in August for a mostly routine session.
Mayor Ricky Calais reported July sales tax collections of $653,595, which was $36,817 higher than the previous year.
He gave an update on the Mills Avenue/Champagne Boulevard extension project, noting that letters had been sent to affected property owners and city engineers were working on the involved intersection upgrades.
The mayor announced that Parc Hardy playground equipment had been ordered and that the concession and restroom stands in the baseball/softball areas would soon be air-conditioned. He also said the pavilion project, funded by a capital outlay from the St. Martin Parish Government, would begin shortly, and thanked the parish parish council for securing funding.
