The Bible says there are two kinds of people, the natural man and the spiritual man. It also explains that the majority of mankind is “dead in their trespasses” and must be born again in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Those who are not born of the Spirit of God are simply living a natural life and are really not concerned of spiritual things even though many are religious. The pharisees in Jesus’ time are examples of that.
In 2 Corinthians chapter four, Paul tells Christians not to lose hope even though our natural man may be wasting away, our spiritual man is being renewed daily. He admonishes us to fix our eyes on what is unseen instead of the things this world offers us because they are but a mirage- here today and gone tomorrow. The spiritual man knows that this life is not what’s most important though the natural man fixates on it. We know our true treasures are not here, and neither are our victories or rewards, they are yet to come. It is by truly seeing eternity that we change how we live today.
The multitude today are like Esau who will trade their birthright for a cup of soup. Things like money, houses, cars, and fame is what their focus is, yet they fail to realize that all of the above is but a fleeting fantasy. Consider the “famous” Dr. Fauci is now the “Infamous Dr. Fauci”! Philippians chapter three reminds us that our citizenship is in heaven and we are simply passing through this current world. No one would spend thousands of dollars decorating a condo they have rented for a week, yet that is how many people live their livesdecorating the temporal.
