Pollock — Taking the lectern at the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame ceremony, state office honoree Robert F. Richard recalled a time from the late 1980s where he met a St. Martin Parish youth who wanted to show a lamb at a livestock show like her older brother had done.

“She could not leave her father’s side and shook in the stands as she watched,” Richard said. “We didn’t think she could go through with it, but with encouragement, she ushered the lamb into the ring and ended up getting a higher ribbon than her brother. That’s what 4-H can do.”
