Qualifying will be held Aug. 5-7 for the Nov. 3 elections that will include U.S. Senate and Congressional races as well as elected positions at the state and local level in St. Martin Parish.
Qualifying will be held on Aug. 5, 6 and 7 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the St. Martin Parish Clerk of Court’s office in the St. Martin Parish Court House.
The Nov. 3 ballot includes only one race in which candidates have qualified to run, the U.S. Senate race that features the winners of closed Democrat and Republican party primaries.
Democrat “Jamie” Davis will face Republican Julia Letlow in the statewide election.
Also on the Nov. 3 ballot in St. Martin Parish are U.S. Representative races for the 3rd Congressional District and the 6th Congressional District. One person will be elected for each of those two districts.
District judges in the 16th Judicial District Court also will be elected in Election Section 1, Districts G and H and ES 2 Districts A, B, C, D, E and F.
The 16th Judicial District Court covers St. Martin, Iberia and St. Mary parishes.
Also on the ballot is the District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District Court.
All 10 districts on the St. Martin Parish School Board also will be on the ballot.
Justice of the Peace for Wards 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are on the ballot as well as Constable Justice of the Peace for Wards 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6.
Qualifying
City Judge for the City Court in Breaux Bridge and City Marshal for the City Court in Breaux Bridge will be on the ballot as well.
Other municipal elections include races for Mayor and Chief of Police in Breaux Bridge, along with Aldermen in Districts A, B, C, D and E in Breaux Bridge.
The Village of Parks will hold elections for Mayor and Chief of Police as well as three Aldermen.
One Councilman will be elected in the Town of Henderson as well.
The Town of Arnaudville will hold elections for Mayor and Chief of Police along with five Aldermen.
The City of Broussard will hold elections for Mayor and Chief of Police as well as an atlarge Councilman and Councilmen in Districts 1 and 5.
Arnaudville and Broussard are located primarily in St. Landry and Lafayette parishes, respectively, but some precincts are located in neighborhoods in those communities located in St. Martin Parish.
Early voting for those elections will begin Oct. 20 and end Oct. 27. Mail-in ballots must be received for the parish Registrar of Voters by Nov. 2. Requests for mail-in ballots must be received by the Registrar of Voters by Oct. 30.
Oct. 5 is the deadline to register to vote in person or by mail. The Geaux Vote online registration deadline is Oct. 13.
