Parish schools show positive gain on 2026 LEAP results

St. Martin Parish students demonstrated positive academic growth on the 2026 LEAP assessments released by the Louisiana Department of Education. LEAP assessments measure student proficiency in English/Language Arts (ELA), math, science, and social studies.

In Grades 3-8, St. Martin Parish’s overall mastery rate increased from 25% in 2025 to 28% in 2026, a gain of 3 percentage points. This growth exceeded the statewide gain of 1 point and tied St. Martin Parish for the largest overall Grades 3-8 improvement among the surrounding Acadiana-area districts. Results from the 2026 LEAP assessments also show:

• St. Martin Parish Schools achieved a 3-point increase in the percentage of Grades 3-8 students scoring Mastery and above across all tested subject areas. This growth was higher than the state’s 1-point
