The Annual St. Martin Parish 4-H Club Achievement Day was held on the Breaux Bridge High School campus recently. Participants competed in exhibit contests and the annual yell contest and rotated through various educational demonstrations. Participation in the event required the submission of a record book detailing members’ involvement in the 4-H program at schools throughout the parish.
St. Martin Parish 4-H Agents Ashley Istre and Erica Poirier opened the general assembly with a welcome to all in attendance. Graduating senior club member and Junior Leader Club President Isabelle Couvillion, along with other Junior Leader Club officers, led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge, followed by an invocation. Superintendent of Schools Frederick Wiltz served as a special guest speaker for the event.
During the awards program, several organizational 4-H leaders were recognized for their years of service to the St. Martin Parish 4-H program. Those recognized were: Corrina Narcisse, Breaux Bridge Elementary, 25 years; and Mahogany Calais, Breaux Bridge Elementary; Haley Robicheaux, St. Bernard Elementary; and Jonathon Marks, Breaux Bridge High School, five years.
Graduating senior club members receiving years-of-service pins were recognized as follows: Ten Years: Isabelle Couvillion, At-Large Club; Benjamin Ellender and Noah Dupuis, Breaux Bridge High School; and Collin Dore, Devin Lanclos, and Lanie LeLeu, Cecilia High School.
Nine Years: Anna Oliver, At-Large Club; and Therese Harris and Jace Knott, Cecilia High School. Eight Years: Ja’Leaha Renee Narcisse, St. Martinville Senior High.
Less Than Eight Years: Soleil Gardemal and Morgan Rogers, At-Large Club; Hollie Miller, Megan Perry, and Bailey Robert, Breaux Bridge High School; and Kelia Francis and Chance George, St. Martinville Senior High.
Outstanding Record Book winners were selected based on the completion and submission of a record book that documents each member’s 4-H activities and achievements throughout the year. The books are evaluated on the members’ participation in projects, activities, leadership experiences, and workshops, as well as the quality and completeness of their records.
