increase and matched the largest overall gain among Acadiana-area districts.
• Students in Grades 3-8 improved 3 points in ELA, increasing from 36% in 2025 to 39% in 2026. The state’s ELA mastery rate remained flat during the same period. St. Martin Parish also posted the largest Grades 3-8 ELA gain among the surrounding Acadiana-area districts.
• In math, students in Grades 3-8 improved 4 points, increasing from 25% in 2025 to 29% in 2026. This was higher than the state’s 1-point math increase and represented the largest Grades 3-8 math gain among the Acadianaarea districts.
• Science mastery rates also improved in Grades 3-8, increasing from 20% in 2025 to 23% in 2026. St. Martin Parish’s 3-point science gain exceeded the statewide science gain of 2 points.
• Social studies mastery rates increased from 20% in 2025 to 21% in 2026, showing continued positive movement following the return of operational social studies assessment results.
• When Grades 3-8 and high school tested subjects are combined, St. Martin Parish improved from 25% in 2025 to 27% in 2026, matching the statewide 2-point gain and outpacing several surrounding districts.
• St. Martin Parish also saw encouraging gains among several student groups. Students with disabilities increased by 3 points overall mastery, while the statewide result for students with disabilities remained flat. Male students increased by 4 points, compared with a 2-point statewide gain. Additional gains were also seen among Asian students, Black students, Hispanic students, White students, homeless students, and students in foster care.
The mastery rate measures the percentage of students who scored Mastery or above on LEAP and are considered proficient. Student scores are reported on five levels: Unsatisfactory, Approaching Basic, Basic, Mastery, or Advanced. Students scoring Mastery and Advanced are considered proficient, or ready for the next grade level without the need for remediation or additional support. Student LEAP scores can be accessed in the Parent Command Portal at this time, and individual student score reports will be sent home with students the first week of school.
