Deputies George Hebert and Aubrey Lanerie were named deputies of the quarter by St. Martin Parish Sheriff Becket Breaux.
Deputy Hebert, named Enforcement Deputy of the Quarter, serves as the School Resource Officer at Cecilia High School, where he has become much more than a law enforcement presence on campus. Known affectionately by students as the “Candy Man,” Deputy Hebert has built meaningful relationships by encouraging and mentoring students both inside and outside the classroom.
“Deputy Hebert goes far beyond simply protecting students and staff—he is a dedicated mentor and role model who works diligently to guide students toward success academically, athletically, and personally,” wrote Lieutenant Frederick L. Renz III.
In addition to his work with students, Deputy Hebert serves as a Field Training Officer for new School Resource Officers and is widely respected by his peers for his guidance, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Deputy Lanerie received the Administrative Deputy of the Quarter award. For 20 years, she has worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure the sheriff’s office operates efficiently and remains in compliance with purchasing policies and procedures. She manages the purchasing department, oversees grant funding for deputy safety vests, tracks liability expenses, and ensures bills are paid and records are meticulously maintained.
“Aubrey is always willing to help whenever our deputies need her and will come to everyone’s aid whether she is at work or at home,” wrote Chief Financial Officer Donna A. Lasseigne. “She can often be found coming in on her day off or on a holiday to make sure that things are running smoothly and everyone has what they need.”
Sheriff Breaux extended his sincere appreciation to Deputy Hebert and Ms. Lanerie for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving the employees and citizens of St. Martin Parish.
