Wilbert “PBD” Ledet Jr. (left), of Parks, was presented with the Community Award at a Juneteenth celebration. He is pictured alongside fellow Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity member Ravis Martinez. Ledet earned the award in recognition of his decade of research documenting the “Story and Glory” of the Promiseland community in the 1950s. His family’s business, PBDee’s Club Valentine in Parks, is the oldest landmark family business site in St. Martin Parish and the first of its kind to receive an official Louisiana historical marker.
