— The Breaux Bridge City Council addressed several financial matters during its final meeting of the fiscal year in June.
Council members approved the city’s 2026– 2027 budget, which takes effect next month. Mayor Ricky Calais reported that the city collected $653,756 in sales tax revenue in May, an increase of $37,408 compared to the same period last year. He added that, through the first 11 months of the fiscal year, sales tax collections are running about 3 percent higher than the previous year.
The council also adopted ordinances governing how funds from the special taxing district may be used. Under the new guidelines, the mayor is authorized
