Baton Rouge – Three Cecilia High athletes closed out their prep careers with state Championships at the Class 4A state outdoor track meet at LSU on Saturday. Two-time defending state discus champion London Thi closed out her career with a third straight title while senior thrower Corey Sassau won a state championship in the shot put.
Cecilia’s Jermaine Davis won the triple jump, but did not have a podium finish in his other event, the long jump.
Thi was first in the discus with a throw of 115 feet, 11 inches. She also finished third in the shot put at the state meet at 34 feet, 9 inches, giving her four career podium (top three) finishes.
Sassau won the boys’ 4A shot put with a heave of 56 feet, 1/2 inch. He also competed in the discus but fouled on all three attempts.
Davis won the triple jump with a 45-foot, 9-inch effort. He placed seventh in the long jump at 21-3 1/2. Davis placed eighth in the triple jump as a junior in 2025 and sixth in 2024. He also was sixth in the long jump at state in 2025.
Breaux Bridge’s, Patrick Godeaux ran in the 800 and 1600 meters but did not have a podium finish, placing fifth in the 1600 (4:29.42) and eighth in the 800 (2:13.34).
Several other Cecilia athletes competed at the state meet held at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
Synae Howard placed fifth in the 4A girls’ 100-meter hurdles in 16.05 seconds.
Nikkie Devillier was seventh in the 100 hurdles (17.28 seconds) and eighth in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles (50.24 seconds).
Asia Batiste finished eighth in the 4A girls’ 100-meter dash in 12.99 seconds.
Dakelian Chevalier placed ninth in the 4A boys’ 400-meter dash in 52.40 seconds.
Cecilia’s 4x200-meter girls’ relay team of Lana Taylor, Khloe Alexander, Olivia Chavis and Asia Batiste placed eighth in 1:51.13.
