Zachary – Several St. Martinville Senior High athletes competed at the Region II Class 3A track and field meet on April 28, looking to earn a spot at the LHSAA Track & Field State Meet in Baton Rouge.
Hurdler Kohen Clues had the best finish for the SMSH competitors, finishing fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.86 seconds. Erath’s Sean Herrington won the event in 14.33 seconds.
Ky’Lun Skipper finished seventh in the long jump for St. Martinville at 20 feet, 5 1/4 inches. Skipper also placed 12th in the 100-meter dash in 13.68 seconds.
Darrell Harris of SMSH was ninth in the triple jump at 39 feet, 1 1/4 inches.
The boys’ 4x800 relay team finished sixth in 9:23.57 with Myles Martin, Mario Mitchell, Mahayah Douglas and Lane Hayes running for the Tigers.
St. Martinville placed 16th in the boys’ team standings with 5 points. Lake Charles College Prep placed first with 118 points, followed by University Lab (105), Glen Oaks (67), Acadiana Renaissance Charter School (65), Erath (51), Parkview Baptist (32), Kaplan (31), St. Louis Catholic (29), Madison Prep (20), Jennings (15), South Beauregard (12), Westlake (12), Abbeville (10), Collegiate Prep of Baton Rouge (10), Port Allen (7) and St. Martinville. Parkview Baptist won the girls’ team title with 110 points, followed by Madison Prep (86), Acadiana Renaissance (86), University Lab (67), Kaplan (48), Lake Charles College Prep (44), Erath (38), South Beauregard (29), St. Louis Catholic (27), Glen Oaks (17), Jennings (12) and Westlake (4).
Maysie Celestine was the lone solo competitor for the Lady Tigers.
Celestine finished 12th in the girls’ 100-meter dash in 13.59 seconds.
The girls’ 4x100 meter relay team finished ninth in 56.17 seconds. Running for the Lady Tigers were Maysie Celestine, Mallorie Allen, Tristan Fontenette and Kynslee Morris.
