Cecilia, BBHS, SM athletes qualify for regional meets

Cecilia – Several athletes from Cecilia and Breaux Bridge qualified for the Class 4A regional meet to be held at Cecilia High this week after placing in the top four of the District 5-4A meet held at Cecilia this past Wednesday.

CHS senior Jermaine Davis qualified in both the long jump and triple jump.

“I had a better day in the triple jump than in the long jump,” Davis said after finishing second in the long jump and winning the triple jump. “I was thinking too much during the long jump but I just went ahead and reacted during the triple jump.”

Breaux Bridge senior Bailey Robert won her second straight district title in the pole vault as she looks to finally move out of regional and compete at the state meet.

“I won the district title last year and was runner-up the year before,” she said. “I didn’t qualify for state either year but I’m really hoping to be able to get out of regional this year.”

Male athletes from Cecilia who qualified for the regional include Shaquille Sanders (3rd, 100 meters; 3rd, 200M), D’Kelian Chevalier (1st, 400M), Gavin Guidry (3rd, 1600M; 3rd, 3200M), Tucker Clay (4th, 3200M), Braylon Calais (3rd, 110M Hurdles; 2nd, 300M Hurdles), Dakorey Living (4th, 110M Hurdles), Jayden Lewis (3rd, 300M Hurdles; 2nd, high jump; 2nd, triple jump), Corey Sasau (1st, shot put; 1st, discus), Hayden Heard (2nd, shot put), Jabarik Sebille (2nd, discus), Jace Knott (1st, javelin), Damiyan Hebert (3rd, javelin), Kently James (4th, high jump) and Ashton Ruffin (4th, long jump).

Cecilia won three of the four relays and placed second in the fourth relay.

Cecilia’s 4x100 relay team of Nathan Thornton, Amiri Noel, Jermaine Davis and Shaquille Sanders placed first to qualify for regionals. Bulldogs Da’Kelian Chevalier, Amin Noel, Jermaine Davis and Shaquille Sanders won the 4x200 relay to qualify for regionals.

Cecilia’s 4x400 relay team of Amiri Noel, Dakorey Living, Braylon Calais and Da’Kelian Chevalier placed first to qualify for regionals.

The CHS 4x800 team placed second with Isaiah Greene, Ja’torian Matthews, Brandon Lejeune and Aidan Landry running the four legs.

Patrick Godeaux led the Breaux Bridge boys’ efforts, winning the 800 meter, 1600 meter and 3200 meter races.

Other male Breaux Bridge athletes who advance to regionals include Dakowen Celestine (4th 100M), Jakyron Wallace (4th, 200M; 2nd, 400M), Justin James (3rd, 800M), Christian Camacho (2nd, 1600M; 2nd, 3200M), Nelson Borel (3rd, high jump) and Gentry Blanchard (3rd, pole vault).

BBHS qualified for regionals in all four relays, including a win in the 4x800 relay.

Breaux Bridge’s 4x100 relay team of Kai Anderson, Dakowen Celestine, Cruz Trail and Noah Solomon placed fourth and qualified for regionals.

The BBHS 4x200 relay team of Dakowen Celestine, Cruz Trail, Jakyron Wallace and Kai Anderson qualified for regionals by placing second at district.

The 4x400 team of Christian Camacho, Justin James, Jakyron Wallace and Cruz Trail placed second to qualify for regionals.

The Breaux Bridge 4x800 relay team placed first with Harley Broussard, Christian Camacho, Patrick Godeaux and Justin James running.

Female Cecilia athletes who advance to regional include Asia Batiste (1st, 100M), Khloe Alexander (3rd, 200M), Olivia Chavis (1st, 400), Riley Falls (2nd, 400M), Lana Taylor (1st, 800M), Brinley Brasseaux (2nd, 800M), Caydah Hardy (1st, 1600M; 1st, 3200M), Sy’Nae Howard (1st, 100M Hurdles), Nikkie Devillier (2nd, 100M Hurdles, 1st 300M Hurdles), London Thi (1st, shot put; 1st, discus; 3rd, javelin), Kinsley LeBlanc (3rd, discus), Megan Girod (1st, javelin) and Laney Hill (3rd, high jump; 4th, long jump; 3rd, triple jump).

Cecilia swept through the relays, winning all four distances.

The 4x100 team of Nikkie Devillier, Khloe Alexander, Olivia Chavis and Asia Batiste placed first.

The 4x200 team of Lana Taylor, Khloe Alexander, Olivia Chavis and Asia Batiste also placed first.

Placing first in the 4x400 were Khloe Alexander, Nikkie Devillier, Lana Taylor and Olivia Chavis.

First in the 4x800 relay were Brinley Brasseaux, Madison Lam, Arlai Patin and Zoey Huval.

Female Breaux Bridge athletes who advance to regional include Caisley Jordan (2nd, 100M; 2nd, 200M), Jolie Boutte (4th, 200M), Daleah Ledet (3rd, 400M), Lydee Williamson (3rd, 1600M, 2nd, 3200M), Kamie Dugas (4th, 100M Hurdles), Amiracle Matthews (2nd, shot put), Layla Jernigan (2nd, discus), Sophie Dore (2nd, javelin) and Athena Davis (3rd, long jump).

Breaux Bridge qualified for regionals in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relays with top four finishes.

The 4x100 relay team of Jolie Boutte, Athena Davis, Brelle Hurst and Caisley Jordan placed third.

The 4x200 team of Jolie Boutte, Athena Davis, Brelle Hurst and Caisley Jordan also placed third.

The 4x400 team of Daleah Ledet, Caisley Jordan, Kamie Dugas and Jolie Boutte placed fourth.

The 4x800 team of Whitney Boudreaux, Bailey Robert, Lydee Williamson and Daleah Ledet also placed fourth.

St. Martinville competed in the District 5-3A meet at Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy in Youngsville on Wednesday.

Kohen Clues qualified for regionals by placing third in the 110 meter hurdles for the Tigers.

St. Martinville’s 4x800 meter relay team also qualified for regionals by placing third.

Ky’lun Skipper was fourth in the long jump and Darrel Harris was fourth in the triple jump to advance to regionals as well.

The SMSH girls’ 4x100 relay team finished third to qualify for regionals.
