D/L to register to vote in person, by mail or at OMV for May 16 election is Apr. 15

Today, (April 15), is the deadline to register to vote in person, by mail, or at an OMV office for the May 16 Party Primary and Municipal Primary Election.

St. Martin Parish voters will select candidates for U.S. Senate in both the Democratic and Republican primaries, as well as U.S. Representative in the Democratic primary.

In St. Martinville, voters will also choose a mayor and city council members in Districts 1, 3, and 4.

Five constitutional amendments will also appear on the ballot.

The deadline to register through the Geaux-Vote Online Registration System is April 25.

Early voting will be held May 2-9, excluding Sunday, May 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is May 12 at 4:30 p.m. for all voters except military and overseas voters. Absentee ballot requests may be made online through the Secretary of State’s Voter Portal or in writing through the St. Martin Parish Registrar of Voters Office.

The deadline for the registrar of voters to receive a completed absentee ballot is May 15 at 4:30 p.m., except for military and overseas voters.

On Election Day, May 16, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
