The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced a scheduled road closure on LA 96 (Catahoula Highway) as part of the ongoing $12 million LA 96 Preservation Project in St. Martin Parish.
LA 96 will be closed to all commercial vehicles at approximately 1.13 miles west of its intersection with LA 352 beginning April 7, at through Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 a.m., weather permitting.
Local traffic will not be disrupted, as the parish has provided an alternate route to assist drivers during the closure.
This closure is necessary to allow crews to safely install new drainage structures across the roadway, which are critical to improving roadway durability and long-term performance.
Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for additional travel time.
Detour Information
Westbound traffic: Travel south on LA 352, proceed west on LA 3083, continue west on LA 679 to reconnect with LA 96.
Eastbound traffic: Travel east on LA 679, proceed to LA 3083, continue north on LA 352 to reconnect with LA 96.
DOTD appreciates the public’s patience as this important infrastructure improvement progresses and reminds all drivers to exercise caution, follow posted signage, and remain alert for construction crews and equipment in the area.
