Breaux Bridge — St. Martinville native, educator, and author Andrea Brew Harrison is thrilled to announce the release of her third children’s picture book, Belle of the Boil, published by Mascot Kids and officially launching on April 7.
To celebrate the occasion, a book launch and signing event will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Breaux Bridge Library, located at 205 N. Main St. The event is free to the public.
Belle of the Boil is a vibrant “ode to Louisiana” that follows Belle, a young girl embarking on a sensory journey down Highway 31 to her very first crawfish boil. The story immerses readers in the spicy aromas, zydeco rhythms, and joyful community spirit that make South Louisiana unique. Targeted at children ages 3–8, the picture book celebrates the cherished South Louisiana tradition of gathering around newspapercovered tables to enjoy good food, laughter, and family time.
Following the success of her debut titles — ’Twas the Night Before Bayou Classic (2016) and ’Twas the Night Before Bayou Classic: A Tiger’s Tale (2017) — Harrison returns with another vibrant story that captures the heart and flavor of Cajun and Creole culture.
“Growing up immersed in Louisiana’s traditions, I wanted to create a story that feels like home,” says Harrison.
“As an educator, my goal is to foster a love of reading by filling bookshelves with stories where children can see their own lives and cultures honored and remembered.”
“Hosting this launch in the Crawfish Capital of the World just makes sense.”
The Breaux Bridge Library invites families, children, and book lovers of all ages to join this special event celebrating local storytelling and Louisiana heritage.
