Arnaudville – A Breaux Bridge man was arrested this past Wednesday on several felony charges after a domestic dispute led to schools in Cecilia being placed on lockdown.
Sheriff Becket Breaux said that at about 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 25, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in the 1000 block of Will Angelle Road in Arnaudville regarding threats made by the caller’s estranged boyfriend to damage her residence.
Upon arrival at the residence, deputies found that no damage had been done to the residence. While still at the residence, the caller informed deputies that the boyfriend, who was identified as Anthony Potier, 33, of Breaux Bridge, made additional threats to harm her child, who was currently in a local school.
As a result of the additional threat reported to deputies, the schools in the Cecilia area were all put on lockdown while deputies immediately responded to the child’s school.
While additional deputies were responding to the school, they observed Anthony Potier traveling in the 1000 block of Anse Broussard Highway in Cecilia, where he was quickly detained and placed under arrest on the following charges:
• LA R.S. 14:40.6 Unlawful Disruption of the Operation of a School (Felony)
