The Breaux Bridge High School baseball team went 1-2 in the Eunice High baseball tournament this past week.
The Tigers beat Westminster Christian 4-2 on Friday but lost to Sacred Heart of Ville Platte 4-2 on Thursday and to Kaplan 7-0 on Friday. BBHS also lost a home game to Ascension Episcopal on Feb. 24, 6-5 in eight innings.
The Tigers are 7-4 on the year.
Against AES, Breaux Bridge led 2-0 after one inning, 3-1 after three innings and 4-1 after four. The Gators scored twice in the fifth to tie the game up, then outscored BBHS 2-1 in the eighth for the win.
Evan Theriot went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI and Bryce Melancon, Kyson Rebert and Charlie Frederick each had a hit and an RBI.
Caynon Ardoin took the loss in relief, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts in two innings. Melancon started and allowed four runs, only one earned, on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in six innings.
Against Sacred Heart in the John R. Young Tournament at Eunice, the Tigers gave up two runs in the third inning with the Trojans also scoring one in the first and one in the seventh. BBHS had single runs in the first and fifth innings.
Bryce Melancon went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Kyson Rebert had an RBI for the Tigers.
Sam Armentor took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts in four innings. Two of the runs were unearned. Christian Camacho allowed one unearned run on one hit with three strikeouts in three relief innings.
BBHS exploded for four runs in the fourth inning against Westminster Christian of Lafayette on Friday in the tournament for a 4-2 win.
Bryce Melancon had a hit and an RBI, Kyson Rebert and Evan Theriot each drove in a run and Sam Armentor, Kai Lalonde and Christian Camacho had hits.
Kaplan shut out the Tigers 7-0 and allowed only one hit later on Friday.
Charlie Frederick’s single was Breaux Bridge’s lone hit.
Kaplan scored five runs in the seventh to break open a close game.
Benjamin Ellender suffered the loss, allowing two hits on two runs with one walk and six strikeouts in five innings on the hill. Hayden Stelly allowed five hits and five runs, four unearned, over two innings, striking out two batters.
Cecilia’s Bulldogs went 1-4 on the week to drop to 6-7 overall.
Caynon Ardoin pitched six innings for the win, surrendering two hits and one run with six walks and nine strikeouts. Camacho pitched the seventh, allowing three hits and one run.
Cecilia beat Westminster Christian of Lafayette 4-3 at home on Wednesday but lost 24-2 at Loreauville on Feb. 24 and went 0-3 in the Eunice Tournament with a 15-1 loss to North Vermilion on Thursday, an 11-3 loss to Westlake on Friday and an 8-6 loss to Sacred Heart on Saturday.
St. Martinville won three games to improve to 4-5 on the season with a current four-game win streak.
The Tigers beat Northwest 10-9 on Feb. 24, downed David Thibodaux 10-7 on Thursday and shut out Northside 11-9 on Friday.
