Bernard inducted into LAFF Hall of Fame

The Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals (LAFF) announced Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Association President Mark Bernard as the 2026 inductee into the LAFF Hall of Fame, honoring his decades of service, leadership, and community dedication. The announcement was made at the group’s annual convention in New Orleans.

Induction into the LAFF Hall of Fame is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated at least ten years of devoted service and significant contributions to Louisiana fairs and festivals. Bernard’s record of commitment easily surpasses that standard, with more than 30 years of leadership and volunteerism with the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival.

Bernard began volunteering with the Crawfish Festival in 1993 and joined its board two years later. Since then, he has served in nearly every major role, including Festival Coordinator and Entertainment Chair - a position he has held for over 20 years. As president for approximately 15 years, Bernard helped ensure the festival’s financial strength through careful management, creative problem-solving, and the expansion of sponsorship opportunities that have offset major expenses.

Under his guidance, the festival also improved event security and enhanced its relationship with community partners. Beyond the festival grounds, Bernard’s dedication extends widely across St. Martin Parish. He has served on the boards of the Teche Center for the Arts, St. Martin Parish Jaycees, and St. Martin Parish Crime Stoppers, while also participating in the Becket Brothers 300 Club and attending City Council meetings to advocate for community causes.

Bernard’s contributions to local civic life also include active involvement in mayoral and sheriff campaigns as well as volunteer work renovating the local Veterans Home.

Within the LAFF organization itself, Bernard has held numerous leadership roles. He began his LAFF service as a District Director before moving into executive positions, serving as Vice President in 2013 and President in 2014, earning him a reputation for his “rocking good time” leadership style. A long-standing member of the LAFF Election Committee, he is known for his handson commitment—often arriving early at conventions to help with setup.

In addition, the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Association received the following accolades in Division III, which includes festivals with attendance of between 15,001 to 30,000.
