Parks — Aside from approving the January meeting minutes and voting to adjourn, the Parks Village Council had no items requiring formal approval during its February meeting.
Most of the meeting consisted of Mayor Kevin Kately updating the council on ongoing and upcoming projects around the village.
The largest project remains the construction of a new water well, which is getting closer to breaking ground and becoming operational. Kately, joined by Chief Engineer Adam Thibodeaux, who was present in the audience, said the village is only waiting on final approval before the project can begin. Kately expects that approval to come sometime in March.

Another highlight of the meeting was the introduction of Eva Potier, who attended her first session after being appointed by Kately to fill the unexpired term of former councilwoman Kendra Potier who resigned last month after relocating from Parks to Youngsville, making her ineligible to serve on the council.
Eva Potier, who previously ran for a seat on the council but did not serve in the most recent term, stated she will complete Kendra Potier’s unexpired term but does not plan to run in the November election.
Mayor Kately also reported that the next phase of new water meter installations will begin once the new well is completed. He is continuing to seek and apply for grants to help offset the project’s cost. After the final cost of the well is set, the next round of meters will be installed, starting near the sheriff’s substation and extending to the Doyle Melancon Road area.
With no further business on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned until March.
