Applications for Sheriff’s Scholarship now available

Sheriff Becket Breaux announces that again this year, the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program will award a scholarship to a worthy student from St. Martin Parish to further their education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program.

A scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded to one graduating high school senior from St. Martin Parish.

There are no restrictions on the purpose for which the scholarship is spent. The scholarship is not a loan and will be awarded as a gift to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that the applicant must be a permanent resident of Louisiana; that the scholarship be utilized in higher education within the State of Louisiana, and that the student be enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student. Applicants must be eligible for admission to the school that they indicate on their application.

The award will only be paid for attendance at institutions of higher learning within the State of Louisiana.

Completed applications must be submitted to Sgt. Tracy Etienne at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office no later than Apr.1, 2026.

Applications are available for pick-up at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff Enforcement Complex located at 4870 N. Main Hwy., St. Martinville, (between Breaux Bridge and Parks), or from the counselors at Breaux Bridge High School, St. Martinville High School, and Cecilia High School, Catholic High New Iberia, and Teurlings Catholic High School.
