Two arrests made in shooting death of 45-year-old man in St. Martinville

St. Martinville – An 18-year-old man was arrested after police were called to the sight of a domestic alteration and found a 45-year-old man dead after being shot three times.

The wife of the victim also was arrested after reportedly not giving aid and hindering the investigation, according to St. Martinville Police Chief Ricky Martin.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 100 Cypress Garden Road, Apt. 92, at about 10 p.m. on the evening of Jan. 19.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a domestic altercation had occurred inside the residence, during which a 45-year-old man, later identified as Claude Collins, was shot three times.

Through subsequent investigation, detectives identified the shooter as 18-year-old Shawn Abraham.

Abraham was reported to have discharged a firearm, striking the victim three times and causing fatal injuries. Collins was pronounced dead as a result of the gunshot wounds.

Abraham was arrested and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the charge of 14:30.1 – Second Degree Murder.

Further investigation revealed that the victim’s wife, Sheena Marie Robertson Collins, failed to render aid to the victim following the shooting and took actions that impeded the investigation.

As a result, she was also arrested and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on charges of 14:502 – Failure to Render Aid and 14:130.1 – Obstruction of Justice.
