The St. Martinville Senior High boys’ basketball team beat Rayne 54-52 this past Tuesday before falling to Zachary and St. Louis Catholic in the Southside basketball tournament.
Rayne led its game Tuesday with the Tigers, 17-15 after one quarter and 30-27 at halftime, but SMSH outscored the Wolves 27-23 in the second half to win.
The Tigers hit five 3-pointers to four by Rayne.
Kristian Batiste led SMSH with 19 points. Marc Floyd added 12 and Ja’Korey Blanchard had 9.
Jaylon Alleman had 13 to lead Rayne and Lesean Leday and Syncere Smith had 9 each.
In Youngsville on Wednesday, SMSH lost to Zachary 67-31.
On Friday, St. Martinville had only 10 firsthalf points with 4 in the first quarter and 6 in the second in falling to St. Louis 46-33.
Nic Devau led the Saints with 12 points.
Marc Floyd led SMSH with 8 points and Kervin Fontenette and Lyle Potier had 7 each.
St. Martinville fell on the road to Central Catholic on Tuesday, 70-64.

Get it growing
at halftime but CCHS outgunned St. Martinville 28-14 in the third quarter to take the lead.
Marc Floyd exploded for 22 points, including six of St. Martinvilles eight 3-point baskets, and Landon Potier added 20 for SMSH. Kristian Batiste also was in double figures with 14 points.
Parker Jennings had 24 points to lead the Eagles, including six of his team’s eight 3-pointers. Keilon Johnson added 17 points including 7 in the third quarter and Tylon Mingon had 6 of his 13 points in the third period. Dilon Ebbecke added 6 of his 8 points in the third quarter as well.
SMSH hit eight of 13 free throws and CCHS hit four of 13.
The Tigers host the Darrel Mitchell Sr. Holiday Classic starting on Friday and continuing through Monday. Eleven boys’ teams and six girls’ teams will compete including boys’ and girls’ teams from St. Martinville, Cecilia and Breaux Bridge.
