City of BB ends 2025 on high note with clean audit

Breaux Bridge — The Breaux Bridge City Council held its final meeting of 2025, with several zoning changes taking center stage on the agenda.

City Auditor Russell Champagne presented the results of the annual audit, giving the city a clear financial record. Mayor Ricky Calais thanked city employees for their dedication over the past year, crediting their hard work for the positive audit outcome.

Mayor Calais reported that the city collected $616,176 in revenue, an increase of $6,822 compared to November 2024. He also noted that the city remains $482,556 under budget. In other updates, the mayor announced the completion of the octagon-shaped pavilion reconstruction in Parc Hardy and expressed appreciation to those who organized and participated in the city’s annual Christmas Parade.

The council also heard from Sanders Bonin, Jr., who designed and installed new obstacle course in the city’s dog park as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Several zoning adjustments were approved to help protect homes and properties along Park Avenue, Elise Drive, Timic Drive, Elmire Drive, Boyer Street, Francis LeBlanc Drive, Rosa Mae Drive, Gravouia Drive, and Kelli Drive.

Finally, the council voted to hire Logan Bourque as a new patrol officer for the Breaux Bridge Police Department.
