Lafayette – The St. Martinville Senior High boys’ basketball team went 2-1 in the Big Dave Classic baksetball tournament at Northside High School this past weekend.
St. Martinville beat Ville Platte 61-50 on Thursday, lost to David Thibodaux 60-43 on Friday and beat Delhi 58-27 on Saturday.
Against Ville Platte, the Tigers led 31-26 at halftime but pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans 18-12 for the 9-point win.
Marc Floyd led SMSH with 16 points. Kervin Fontenette had 13 points and Andre Jones added 11 to join him in double-figure scoring. The Tigers hit three 3-pointers and converted 12 of 23 free throws.
Ja’Maury Thomas led Ville Platte with 13 points and Ashton Bias and Tayvion Thomas added 11 each. VPHS hit only four of 10 free throws and had two 3-pointers.
David Thibodaux outscored SMSH 24-11 in the fourth quarter to break open the game after leading 36-32 after three quarters.
JaKorey Blanchard had 12 points and Kristian Batiste had 11 to lead the Tigers.
JaNathan Dalcour had 22 points and Caden Barton added 18 for David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy. The Bulldogs had three 3-pointers and hit five of 12 shots at the foul line.
The Tigers blew out Delhi on Saturday, outscoring the Bears11-8 in the first quarter, 23-4 in the second and 17-9 in the third.
Marc Floyd led SMSH with 11 points and Cardarea Keys had 10 with nine players scoring for the Tigers.
Kamarrio Banks led Delhi with 12 points and Jatavius Hester had 7.
SMSH hit four 3-pointers and held the Bears without a trey. Each team hit 50 percent of its free throws. The Tigers were 8-for-16 at the charity stripe and Delhi went 7-for-14.
Breaux Bridge beat Abbeville 47-46 on Thursday, then split a pair of games in the Alexandria tournament, losing to Alexandria 59-21 on Thursday and beating Avoyelles Public Charter 57-30 on Saturday.
