– The St. Martin Parish School Board recognized Students of the Year for fifth grade, eighth grade and 12th grade for each school and district wide at the board’s regular meeting on Dec. 3.
Fifth-grade Students of the Year were Piper Reed of Breaux Bridge Elementary, Chevelle Mederos of St. Martin STEAM Academy, Bryce Lewis Jr. of Parks Middle School, Gavin Harvey of Stephensville Elementary and district winner Landon Fenroy of Teche Elementary.
Eighth grade Students of the Year were Carson Gros of Stephensville Elementary, Nyla Veney of Parks Middle, Andi Alvarez of Cecilia Junior High, Jeremiah Smith of Breaux Bridge Junior High and district winner Amari Cole of St. Martinville Junior High.
The 12th grade Students of the Year were Kristian Batiste of St. Martinville Senior High, Therese Harris of Cecilia High and district winner Benjamin Ellender of Breaux Bridge High.
The three district winners are eligible to move onto zone competition for Student of the Year honors, with regionals and state competitions after that.
