Monday, Dec. 1 was a chilly, grey, nasty day over here. I’ve put out a space heater just to take the chill off the house. It rained Sunday. Today maybe a sprinkle although my phone weather says rain continuing and tomorrow also. I don’t mind rain so much but definitely don’t like the cold.
A camper neighbor came just two days to his camp, long enough to run his half dozen crab traps and pick his boat up in case of heavy rain. I think he might have caught half a dozen crabs.
Belle River is so low right now you have to be careful crossing the pontoon bridge at the Spunky Monkey. The bridge levels itself as I’ ve said but it takes a while and meanwhile there’s quite a difference in road and bridge levels. Bingo for Seniors began
Dec. 2 as does Yoga for Seniors.
Food for Seniors will not occur again until sometime in January, most probably the last Thursday in that month. By that time maybe Mr. Russell Courville will be back to driving the truck with the commodity boxes. The two interim drivers have both been very nice but we all hope to see Russell again.
The Dec. 2 Bingo drew the usual crowd of over 20 and was enlivened by an Entergy Power failure about half way through the morning. After the laughter and ohhhs and ahhhs died down. The venetian blinds were opened for daylight and the games progressed. Despite the Entergy remarks on phones, the power came back on in about half an hour so it was not a major issue. The cause was said to be damage to equipment and that could be a lot of things but I did notice on my way home a power truck with activitiy at the apparatus at the corner which provides air for tires, etc. Maybe it had been struck. We never turned the heat in the building on anyway, so it didn’t get any colder. Everybody just took it in stride as they always do.
The sun is shining now and it feels wonderful through the glass doors. The cat is stretched out on the back porch. The dog is sleeping on the run. All is well.
Yoga for Seniors was held on Tuesday evening as scheduled, but the attendance was very light. Several people were on a cruise, one was sick, someone else just couldn’t come. Those of us who did come had a nice session. It felt good to get some stretching. When it became evident even fewer people were going to come to the next day Yoga session we cancelled that one. Hopefully, we will begin again next week.
There is so much going on these days. These Yoga ladies are not the ones to sit around and do nothing, so schedules get crowded.
It is not quite as cold this morning (Dec. 4) but it has been raining steadily, sometimes quite hard. The wind has died down which means my doggy door flap isn’t blowing in. It is on the north side of my house which is probably the worst place for it, but the only place I could make a hole in the wall when I put the apparatus in years ago. I keep telling myself to construct some sort of shield but of course, I only remember that when the wind is blowing.
I have undertaken a genealogy project and almost wish I hadn’t. I’ve been trying to construct a family tree (on paper) for my father’s family and it’s kind of fun but I keep running out of room and my tree keeps expanding beyond the paper. At the rate I’m going, I’ll have to start using the floor as a surface.
