SM native is finalist for award

Fort Worth, Tx - The Academy of Western Artists announced finalists from sixteen states plus Australia for 18 awards recognizing 2024 work in the areas of Western/ Cowboy Music & Poetry, Western Swing Music, Western Country Music, Western Art, Western Media, and Chuckwagon.

Dennis Ledbetter, formerly of St. Martinville, is a finalist for 2024 Western Country Album (I Should Have Known Better) and 2024 Western Country Single (‘’Right to Bear Arms’’). A Louisiana native and a lifelong student of country music, Ledbetter brings a fresh, but achingly familiar voice to the stage and radio airways. His classic instrumental arrangements and vocal style harken back to country music of the 1970s and 80s when the genre still had its trademark twang. He’s spent years onstage at honky tonks and clubs in the South, honing his craft and earning the tears and smiles that are reflected in his authentic voice.

The winner of each award was to be announced at one of two awards ceremonies in on Tuesday, December 2.
