Youngsville – The St. Martinville Senior High boys’ basketball team rallied from an early deficit to take a 1-point halftime lead against Acadiana High this past Tuesday, then outscored the Rams 19-12 in the fourth quarter to claim a 57-49 win.
Marc Floyd scored a team-high 19 points for the Tigers and Kervin Fontenette added 14 points in the win.
Fontenette and Lyle Potier, who finished with 9 points, each hit two of St. Martinville’s six 3-point shots for the night.
The Rams’ Dorian Bickham led all scorers with 20 points, hitting three 3-pointers for Acadiana. Rusty McCoy added 12 points including a pair of treys.
SMSH held a distinct edge at the free throw line, finishing 13-for-24, including 11 of 15 attempts made in the second half and seven of 10 in the fourth quarter. Acadiana was 5-for-12 on the night but only made three of seven foul shots in the second half. All 12 of the Rams’ fourth-quarter points were on 3-point shots.
