Cecilia - Cecilia High School is calling on alumni and the local community to help preserve the proud history of the Cecilia High Bulldog Band. A new initiative aims to build a permanent digital archive that celebrates the band’s rich legacy from the 1920s through the 1980s, when the original program concluded.
Under the direction of current Band Director King Julian, the project seeks to connect today’s students with the traditions, spirit, and achievements of the ensembles that came before them.
“We want our students to see how their musical heritage shaped this community,” said Julian. “Preserving these memories ensures that the legacy of the Bulldog Band continues to inspire future generations.”
Organizers are asking alumni and local residents to share photos, recordings, and memorabilia related to the Bulldog Band, including: yearbook pages, rehearsal and performance photos, parades, and concert images; audio recordings (reel‑to‑reel, cassette, or vinyl) and video (8mm/ Super 8, VHS); concert programs, newspaper clippings, trophies, uniforms, pins, and other keepsakes; names, dates, and short stories to help identify and caption items Digital scans and photos can be emailed directly. Those with physical items may contact organizers to arrange safe scanning and return. High-quality phone photos are also welcome. For those scanning, recommended settings are 300–600 dpi in color, saved as JPEG or TIFF files.
Yearbook images from the 1920s through the 1980s are especially valuable in documenting the band’s early decades. Please email existing scans or contact the project lead, Tyler Patin at [email protected] or Tyler Patin at Facebook Messenger to coordinate sharing materials. Alumni are also encouraged to spread the word to fellow graduates and community members who may have Bulldog Band memorabilia.
