Sewer line extension
SEWER IMPROVEMENTS – Work crews use an excavator to dig through the street at the corner of Ledoux Street and Main Street in St. Martinville and remove the concrete and dirt with a compact track loader as the city’s $10 million water and sewer improvement work continues. St. Martinville – St. Martinville’s citywide sewer system upgrades are continuing with an extension of the sewer system along Main Street.

Crews were working this past week on the project at the corner of Main Street and Ledoux Street, digging through the roadway and ground alongside Main Street to install the sewer lines.

The work is part of a three-phase project funded by $10 million in state and federal grants through the Louisiana Water Sector Grant and from funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Previous work in the project included smoke tests to find leaks in the system, which were repaired, and pumping stations rehabilitation.

Funding from the Louisiana Watershed Initiative is being used for treatment ponds and levees around the city that will be raised. Work on that phase is scheduled to begin in 2026.
