November 5, 1975

Newly elected officers of the St. Martinville Sr. High Student Council were Glenn Etienne, president; Shantly Guidry, vice president; Susan Jones, secretary; Stanley Dutile, treasurer; and Cheryl Touchet, parliamentarian.

Officers of the Margaret Mother’s Club were Aline Garret, president; Maizell Mitchell, vice president; Mary James, secretary; Evelyn Anthony, tresurer; Alvina Alexander, chaplain; Isabella James, sergeant at arms; and Bonnuola Gardiner, social chairlady.

Nancy Lalande and Debbie Colligan, both of Breaux Bridge, were maids on the homecoming court at Teurlings Catholic High.

Members of the Breaux Bridge Homecoming Court were Renee Dupuy, Connie Babineaux, Angelique LeBlanc, Rebecca Clemens, Mandy Hollier, Judy LeBlanc, Janet Latiolais, Cathy Theriot and Lorna Landry.

November 6, 1985

Dedra Narcisse was the recipient of the Florence Narcisse Memorial Scholarship awarded by the Charmette Club of St. Martinville.

Miriam Garret, a graduate of Mercy High School, was named an outstanding freshman at Xavier University.

St. Martinville Lady Tiger coach Dorothy Polk was named “Coach of the Year” in District 5 AAAA volleyball, and three of her players earned All-District honors. They were Coni Thibodeaux. Rachel Resweber and Martha Joseph.

St. Martinville Elementary School’s 4th grade 4-H officers were Peter Lagarde, president; Jamie Barras, vice president; Frannie Randazzo. secretary Kristie McMath, reporter; and Stephanie Romero, song leader.

Jamie Smith of Breaux Bridge, won second place honors in the state 4-H Chicken-N-Que competition.

Lenora “Mama T” Thevenet was named Breaux Bridge Citizen of the Year by the Kiwanis Club.

November 8, 2000

Preliminary but unofficial 2000 U.S. Census results showed St. Martinville, Breaux Bridge, Parks and Henderson increased in population since 1990 census. Counts included: St. Martinville - 7,711 from 7,359; Breaux Bridge - 7,524 from 6,906; Henderson 1,578 from 1,526; and Parks 516 from 487.

September Students of the Month at Parks Middle School were Taurean Savoy, Megan Quebedeaux, Jebby Soignier, Charlisa Key, Seth Lasseigne, Courtney Laperouse, Dustin Daigle, Hillary Vincent, Lakeisha Guilliam, Kayla Aucoin, Michael DeBlanc, Ashley Daigle, Jeremy Potier, Rayna Wiltz and Naomie Thibodeaux.

Grocery prices in St. Martin Parish included: 12 oz. Bar-S Wieners - 2/98¢; Community Coffee - $2.98/lb.; Miss Goldy Whole Fryers - 48¢/ lb.; 10 lb. bag Russet Potatoes - $1.19; Gallon Shurfresh Vegetable Oil - $2.49.

Winners in the Chariot Parade held on the St. Martin de Tours church square were: Plain Box: Chrisitan Jaubert, first; Sean Champagne, second and Lauren Durand, third. Float category: Jenna Matis, first. Most Original category: Alaina Citty, first; Mia claire Jaubert, second; and Dylan Landry, third. Most Beautiful category: Jared Matis, first; Ashley Perioux, second; and Jordi Devillier, third.

Baylie Christian was crowned 2015 homecoming queen at St. Martinville Sr. High. Maids on the court included Cori Gauthier, Kelly Hulin, Brooke Cormier, LaKaysha Batiste and Gabriel Boudreaux.

The project to widen and improve the stretch of the interstate from the Atchafalaya bridge to Breaux Bridge were amended to include roundabout intersections where each on/off ramp crosses LA 347 was discussed at the Henderson Town Council meeting.
