Letters to the Ed

A fitting tribute

I was moved by the article in the Teche News about my dear friend, Henri Clay Bienvenu. I am indeed proud to say he was a personal friend and a cornerstone of generosity to all who knew him.

I thank Sheriff Becket Breaux for supporting this cause in honor of such a worthy person as Henri. His life was centered on helping any and all who were in need.

On a personal note, may I mention we worked together on the monthly “Bayou Belle” feature in the Teche News. Many times my poems were sent in late and had to be taken over the phone. His patience and understanding were touching.

I served on the St. Martin Parish School Board for eight years. He was at every meeting. I must also mention the annual Retreat at Grand Coteau. He was our Captain - so dedicated to helping us attend annually and recruiting new attendees.

I can’t mention everything about his generosity and goodness. I know I miss him greatly. So many of us do.

In closing, Merci Mon Ami! We love you. Pray for us.

Many Blessings! Pope Huval
