Florent Hardy of Cecilia was named “Mr. Yam” at the 1975 Yambilee Festival in Opelousas.
Elected officers of the Beta Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in St. Martinville were Gersie Bienvenu, president; Cheryl Theriot, vice president; Lynnie Bienvenu, corresponding secretary; Gerry LeBlanc, recording secretary; Cathy Sue Hebert, treasurer; Peggy Hardy, parliamentarian; Sydnie Mae Durand, civil defense; and Shirley Fuselier, extension officer.
Newly elected officers of the Breaux Bridge Elementary 4-H Club were Chris Hebert, president; Wilton Theriot, vice president; Theresa Boudreaux, secretary; Troy Frederick and Edna Thibodeaux, song leaders; Daniel Menard, Mark Dumatrait, Mary Beth Matte and Stacy Landry, program committee members; and Ben Hebert, reporter.
First place honors in the men’s division of the Catahoula volleyball tournament went to the St. Martin Pickups. Team members were Adley Douet, Morris Laughlin, Kenneth Theriot, L.J. Latiolais, Gaylord Theriot, Stuart Melancon and Allen Theriot.
Officers of the St. Martinville Elementary 4-H Club were Jacqueline Etienne, president; Joellyn Henson, vice president; Sonya Johnson, secretary; Lorrie Narcisse, treasurer; Henry Louviere, reporter; Patty Dugas, program chairman; and Brenda Rollins, publicity chairman.

Shifting gale force winds from Hurricane Juan’s storm system in the St. Martin Parish area played havoc with sugarcane and soybeans which were ready for harvest. Over seven inches of rain fell in the St. Martinville area from Sunday to midmorning Tuesday.
Louisiana National Guard Maj. Clyde Guidry of Breaux Bridge received the Army Commendation Medal for his extra duty work with the 3rd Battalion in Lake Charles.
St. Martinville Junior High 7th Grade 4-H officers were Lori Trahan, president; Jonathan Romero, vice president; Liz Perioux, secretary; Callie Fuselier, recorder; Peggy Bonin, Lisa Verret, Amber Hebert and Cathy Touchet, program committee; Dwayne Menard, program chairman; and Brent Smith and Eileen Eisenstein, pledge leaders.
Newly elected officers of the St. Martinville Junior High 8th Grade 4-H Club were Dru Duplantis, president; Ryan Landry, vice president; Kelly Delahoussaye, secretary; Troy Miller, treasurer; Jennifer Albert, reporter; Suzette Bienvenu and Shawana Mitchell, pledge leaders and Sonia Guidry, program chairman.
Breaux Bridge coeds selected for the Homecoming Court were Ellen Theriot, Sissy Brown, Becky Theriot, Jodi Theriot, Tonya Theriot, Wendy Hebert, Colleen Dupuis, Krystal Boudreaux, Adria Douet and Denise Hendricks.

Kelli Williams was crowned queen of Homecoming at Breaux Bridge High School. Caddie Melancon was first maid; and second maid was Stephanie Boyer.
Guy Dautreuil of St. Martinville landed a pair of large garfish in the Bayou Benoit area of the Atchafalaya Basin. The two fish, taken in the same area, each measured 6’5” in length and weighed 175 and 169 lbs.
Catahoula Elementary 4-H officers were Jenna Prioux, president, Britney Laviolette, vice president; Jade Dupuis, secretary; Kimberly Bourque, treasurer; Ashley Poche, reporter; Brielle Theriot and Alice Barras, program chairmen; Kristy Faucheaux and Natasha Suire, pledge leaders; and Addy Hulin and Adrian Barras, activity directors.
Breaux Bridge Jayvee cheerleaders were Meagan Thibodeaux, Jessica Bonin, Angela Espinosa, Jessica Cormier, Stephanie Patterson, Holli Stubbs, Ashley Joseph, Tyra Prade and Shana Dupont.
The 2000-01 Beta Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi officers were Bobbie Theriot, president; Charlotte Chataignier, vice president; Reggie Maraist, treasurer; Yvette Greig, corresponding secretary; Marlene Latiolais, recording secretary; Shirley Fuselier, extension; Pearl Bienvenue, parliamentarian; and Elaine Case, civil defense.

Dana Simon was crowned queen of the Breaux Bridge High School Homecoming. First maids were Caitlin Davis and Kaitlyn Guidry (tie) and Morgan Fontenot was second maid.
Paul Durand, president and CEO of St. Martin Bank served as master of ceremonies for the L’Orde du Bon Temps, the primary fund raiser for the Acadian Memorial Foundation.
