The oil and gas industry has come a long way since the early 1900s when this picture was taken at the LaRe Oil Company’s production station at Anse la Butte near Breaux Bridge. Bulky wooden timbers were used extensively to construct the derricks and were nearly as thick as the trees around the rich Anse la Butte oil field.
