St. Martinville – The St. Martin Parish Library welcomes Lawrence Martin Capuder, Sr., author of Historic St. Martinville – “Petit Paris”, for a special Author Talk & Book Signing event this Thursday, October 2, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the St. Martinville Branch Library.
Capuder will present “Longfellow & Evangeline: The Backstories of the Man, His Writing Process, and the People Along the Way.”
This engaging program, based on Capuder’s extensive research for his Longfellow Evangeline Special Book Series, explores the fascinating intersections of literature, history, and local heritage. Attendees will gain an insider’s perspective on Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s creative journey and the influences that shaped his writing process; the real people behind the legend of Evangeline, whose lives and stories brought depth to the celebrated poem; and the cultural landscape of South Louisiana, which played an essential role in inspiring Longfellow’s masterpiece.
By weaving together historical context, literary analysis, and local storytelling, Capuder offers a fresh appreciation for one of America’s most beloved works and the Acadian spirit it represents.
Attendees will also have the chance to meet the author, hear his insights firsthand, and purchase signed copies of his books.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
