St. Martinville – A Carencro man faces second-degree murder charges after his arrest in connection with a call about a woman dropped off at a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In a press release, St.
Martin Parish Sheriff Becket Breaux said that at about 2:05 p.m. on the afternoon of Sept. 3, officers with the Breaux Bridge Police Department, along with deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, responded to a call from the hospital regarding an unresponsive female who was dropped off at the emergency room with life-threatening injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.
Following an initial investigation, Sheriff’s Office deputies, with the assistance of the Breaux Bridge Police Department, identified the suspect as Robert Lee Wiltz, 36, of Carencro.
On the evening of Sept. 3, Wiltz was located and detained at a residence in the 2600 block of Main Highway in Breaux Bridge.
As a result of the continuing investigation, a warrant of arrest was obtained, and he was arrested and charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice.
Murder
On the afternoon of Sept. 4, law enforcement authorities were notified that the victim, Amy Louviere, 40, of Breaux Bridge, died as a result of the injuries she received.
Wiltz’s charges were subsequently upgraded to LA R.S. 14:30.1 Second- Degree Murder Following his arrest, Wiltz was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
No bond has been set. The investigation remains ongoing.
